Knowledge can be acquired through research. Because research is the searching engine for knowledge. It is defined as the re-search of the present knowledge that needs to be found out or explored. I believe that knowledge cannot be learned but can be acquired. And research is the best strategy to acquire any knowledge. Research can further be defined as the systematic investigation of facts and figures that can lead you to some conclusion. It is a time taking the job but ultimately the best one to gather knowledge.
But unfortunately, we lacked it in our educational system. We have a kind of phobia with the name of research and never considered it for our learning. Research is not something to be offered at the university level as a requirement to perceive a degree but should be a childhood hobby of learning. All the educated countries of the world prefer to have research in all fields of their studies and they have been producing valuable results. And here we prefer to memorize their work to pass our exams.
I don’t know why our approach towards learning is so passive and unattractive. Though learning new things must be fascinating. It hits back to the educational system that never appreciates new things nor encourages us to be creative. The best student in our educational institutes is the one who can do rote-memorization and can reproduce that as it is on the piece of paper on the day of the exam. This criterion of assessing disallow the creative students to produce something of their own.
Here I do not know I am talking about which and what system. Because the system is an abstract noun that does not hold any physical shape then what it is? If it is all about the teacher then how we can expect a teacher who has learned by the same mean of rote-memorization to encourage for conduction of research. And many of the teachers hold a belief that it is the best policy of learning. And there is no concept of research-based learning in schools and colleges. Whereas in universities research is considered to be a degree requirement.
Universities introduce the term research at the last semesters of your degree completion and that is about just for two semesters. And that does not develop a learning environment but a phobia. At that point, learning is meager than chaos and tensions. Many of the departments focus on the format of the research template however some of them follow no criteria. Some student struggles to do their research in true mean but lose their ambitions by the attitude of their supervisors and research committee. The quality work is rarely appreciated and it discouraged research-based learning and most of the students preferred the traditional way of memorization.
This is the reason for our lack of knowledge that leads us to darkness and pessimism. In that darkness and pessimism, students lose their critical thinking power and adopt negativism. Pakistan can produce many researchers who can come out with prominent results and can contribute to the progress of the nation. For this, the educational institutes have to facilities the students to conduct their researches. Research work needs investment for better outcomes.
