Today the world is together to eradicate polio and they are successful to a large extend. Though Polio is a disease, however, it has united the whole world together. Every country is playing its role in the eradication of Polio. They are proceeding with different campaigns for it and working on a global level.
But unfortunately, Pakistan is one of the two countries where the wild poliovirus is still existing and cases are recorded per year. Covid-19 has added in the cases of polio as well which has become a global concern. Overall all the countries of the world are on board to help Pakistan and Afghanistan in the elimination of polio. Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) has launched the Polio Eradication Strategy 2022-2026 on 10 June 2021. They aim to completely eradicate polio from the world through its ratio has fallen 99.9% since 1998. G7 is also working for the polio-free world and the ministers affirmed that; “We need to continue supporting the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, whose surveillance capacity and ability to reach vulnerable communities are critical in many countries to prevent and respond to pandemics.”
Pakistan lacks behind in the eradication of polio because of some of the cultural constraints and beliefs. The government of Pakistan is also working on it and many national and international NGOs are also educating the people. The vaccination campaign is running throughout Pakistan and it has worked so far. The main people who can help in the eradication of polio in Pakistan are the parents especially the mothers who can save their children from disabilities. Cooperation and responsibility would play a keen role in the elimination of polio from Pakistan.
Then why not stand with the world and why not educate our surroundings about it. Moreover, why not take the stands to protect our children and to make them able and lively. We need to stand together as a nation and we need to stand with the world so that we can survive.
