Asad Ali Memon’s attempt to scale towering US highest peak. He is from Larkana. he recalled: “I was always attracted to extreme sports”.
“Even in my school days, whenever some of my more privileged friends showed me pictures of their travels and adventures, I had an urge of doing the same. I always wanted to go beyond the general life path and do something extraordinary. That is how my affair with extreme sports began.”
He became a lover of mountains when he met Tahir Imran Khan. He taught Asad Ali Memon through workshops. He taught him the basic knowledge of climbing equipment, rock climbing, and snow climbing techniques. This acted like petrol to the fire. He started mountaineering in 2016. Asad said:
“Mountains have taught me how to be patient and how to connect with nature on a deeper level.”
“It was the night before I attempted Mingligh Sar summit,” he reminisces. “There was a lot of snow all around us and I was shivering with cold. I couldn’t help but miss my mother and the warmth of my bed at home. Throughout the night, I kept praying. It was tough but it was my first up-close encounter with the mountains and I can never forget it. It has a special place in my heart.” Said in redbul.com.
Before climbing the highest peak of America: Asad Ali Memon was thinking about his insecurities that came to mind. Insecurities are a part of life, they come especially when we are going to do something big enough to raise eyebrows.
“Even two days before my flight, I didn’t know if I would be able to make it or not,” he shares. “If it weren’t for my parents and friends who supported me in every way, I could not have made it to this expedition or any expedition, to be honest.”
He became the first Pakistani to speed ascend Kilimanjaro. Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Ayesha Ali, praised Asad Ali Memon, a young Pakistani Mountaineer, for his attempt to climb North America’s highest peak Denali in Alaska. He suffered injuries in both ankles. The Consul said she was “proud” of Memon’s pursuit.
Asad Ali Memon holds a record of becoming the first Asian and Pakistani to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
