Disaster:
Disaster is a devastating state that occurs over a short or long period of time and causes unlimited and unmanageable problems and losses. The major loss is of human resources. Moreover, disasters also threaten the environment, materials, and the economy. Disasters cause losses in magnitude that exceed the ability of the affected community or society to cope with it.
There are different kinds of disasters which are majorly classified into two: Natural disasters and Artificial disasters. Natural disasters occur from the disturbance in the natural process that is uncontrollable. The disturbance or natural disasters are earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, tsunamis, cyclones, wildfires, and pandemics. All these disasters refresh histories in which they turned down many processes.
Whereas disasters like war, social unrest, stampedes, fires, transport accidents, industrial accidents, conflicts, oil spills, terrorist attacks, nuclear explosions/nuclear radiation are termed Artificial disasters. Such disasters come from human action.
Disasters are to be managed.
Natural disasters are unavoidable but they are manageable during and after their outbreak. Whereas artificial disasters are totally manageable and avoidable if human care about. The foremost thing to manage disaster is to be wise enough to control your emotion and to act consciously. And this attitude is possible when there would be proper disaster management training for each individual wherever they belong to. Disaster management training must be provided so that lives can be saved.
The largest department of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is working in this regard. They help out people when there is a disaster and also give training to a limited number of people. Whereas disaster never discriminates among people nor places. Then why train the resourceful and opportunists not the vulnerable part of the society. Are there any criteria for training? I think no because disasters are open to all then training must be accessible to all. Institute like NDMA need to reach each school and college and university to train the future of the country for the future. Pakistan is also prone to both natural and artificial disasters.
An organization like Focus Humanitarian Assistance Pakistan has already covered the northern area of Pakistan in assisting and training people of the mountain. Focus gives training on first aid, earthquake responding, flooding, avalanching and sliding, etc. Such pieces of training help out people to control their emotions and to act with an open mind. The major thing about such training is that they lessen loss and give the strength to cope with the situations.
So it would be great to be prepared before the disaster. Moreover, disaster can be pushed back with the help of training. Then why not celebrate the disaster by managing power than being fearful of them. Why not be prepared before the attack?
