The indigenous people of Kalash valley located in the secluded part of Chitral hold the most unique and amazing culture. These people worship nature and protect nature. The valley is full of nature and considered to be a piece of heaven on earth. If someone wants to find purity in this world then he/she can find it in Kalash valley. Kalash people are very attached to their culture and they are the true example of unity and uniformity. All the females of this valley wear the same style of clothes and work together as one piece of machinery. They have their dishes, a different style of houses with a unique way of lifestyle. They used to celebrate different festivals throughout the year and their celebrations are according to the changing seasons. They used to praise nature too much and deal with nature so humanly.
Some of their festivals are as below:
- Chilam Joshi
This festival is the foremost one and is the celebration of the arrival of spring. And it is celebrated in all three regions of Kalash valley (Rumbur, Bumburet, and Barir). A large number of tourists come from Pakistan and all over the world.
- Uchal
It is a summer festival in which the Kalash people pay homage and thank God for all the crops after harvesting. It is a really good event in which those people pay gratitude to their Creator.
- Choimus
Choimus is a winter festival in which the elder of the area forecast the crops and all the others things for the upcoming year. And they prepare themselves accordingly for that year.
