Takshashila University: The oldest hub of Learning and scripture of Civilization

Takshashila University is considered to be the oldest university founded by Bharata. It was one of the learning units in the Indian sub-continent. This university was majorly renowned for science, especially medicine, and the arts along with religious and other secular disciplines like archery or astrology. It was the center of learning for the distant area scholars. The Buddhist literature mentions the students of the far areas like China, Babylon, Syria, and Greece in addition to Indian students who came to study there.

This university act as a nationalistic influencer that opposes different invaders of the time. It remained the center of knowledge under the Maurya Empire and Indo-Greek in the 3rd and 2nd centuries. And then the unfortunate destruction of Toramana in the 5th century CE ended the activities of the university. Intellects like Panini (Hindu grammarian), Chanakya (PM Mauryan Empire), Kumaralata (founder of Sautrantika School), Vasubandhu (founder of Tubetan Buddhism were the professors in that university. more than 10500 students from 16 countries studied 64 different disciplines of higher studies.

It produced students of top-level who had been ruling the world intellectually. Qamar Abbas Khokar bureaucrat (the Acting Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam) shared a reimagined picture of Tashashila University which existed 2700 years ago.

Pakistan is the hub of civilization and there are many more yet to be explored. All these remaining are assets of our country. And we all need to preserve them so that it can influx thousands of tourists in our country.
