The mind is in hallucination, eyes are shedding, the heart is pumping grief, hands are shivering, and ears are echoing. You are young, charming, smart, and intelligent but in hallucination. Friends are beside you, family is surrounding you, society is also present yet you feel alone. You are mature and can differentiate between right and wrong yet you cannot make your decision. You want to stand out somewhere but you are unable to find out the stage or platform. You have goals and high aims at the top of your mind but you are near to smash them with all your power.
The above para defines the condition of a graduate student. It might surprise you but ask the one who has graduated but there is no job opportunity. Most of the youth graduate between the ages of 22-25. They held the pieces of paper with the title of degree and considered it a milestone for them. But then after a few times, they changed their mind because they realized that the single page they are holding must be a license of skills, not just a degree. They also realized that the life they have stepped in needs proficiency, not pages. Whereas they have entered with pieces of few pages in pack form. This life was once a fascination and an ideal for them. But now they called it the ugly one. They are nostalgic about their past.
The question “why?” might click on your mind so let me share my views regarding it. Many parents work hard and harder to provide educational facilities to their children and many of the children aim to achieve their set goals. They idealize university life and thought it the final destination to bring their dreams true. Whereas some of them are not unable to attend university but those who attend it are also not satisfied. Their dissatisfaction reaches to delta when they graduate. It is because the university has given them just degrees, not skills. And the hypocritical market demands them skills not pages of mark sheet. Though everybody knows that what quality of education is provided by universities yet they are ignorant.
Moreover, family, friends, and society have piled over them with their expectations. Though they are also aware of both universities and the outer market yet they want their children to be the extra-ordinary which is never an overnight process nor it is some software to be installed.
This is my request and question to all universities that please think once before handing over the pieces of paper in name of the degree to your students because it is a matter of their life not years. Help the students to find out their skills and provide them with opportunities to improve their skills before coming out from the university gate.
