In this era of climatic vulnerability, we need to be conscious and we have to take measures to deal with the consequences of climatic change. Because climatic change is no less than civil war. This has a direct impact on the ecology of the earth. It has been estimated that around 690 million people of the globe are hungry and if the situations remain the same then the world will need to produce about 70 percent more food by 2050.  And that would be more challenging to the world. Pakistan is one of the countries which are most vulnerable to climate change and it has already affected us. Being an agricultural country we cannot effort the climatic changes. So, it is better to take precautions and to get ourselves ready to alter the challenges.

The foremost step towards it to take the measures of Climatic Smart Agriculture (CSA). CSA is an integrated approach to managing landscapes—cropland, livestock, forests, and fisheries—that addresses the interlinked challenges of food security and accelerating climate change. This can help out to cope with the problem of shortage of food. It has three aims which are to increase productivity, enhance resilience, and reduce emissions. To increase productivity means to produce more and better food to improve nutrition security and boost incomes because most of our people depend upon agriculture. And to enhance the resilience the farmer needs to use long-term plans and they need to check the weather predictions from time to time so that they can make proper arrangements for their crops. The avoidance of deforestation and the act of forestation can help to reduce emissions.

The relevant bodies of the agricultural industry of Pakistan like Pakistan Agricultural Research Centre (PARC) in collaboration with Thardeep Rural Development (TRDP) and German non-governmental organization Welthungerhilfe conducted a two days conference in which they have considered the importance of CSA. These three bodies are currently working in the Thar region to promote the notion of CSA. The Federal Minister of National Food Security & Research (NFSR) also has participated in the occasion and talked about the vulnerable climatic changes in Pakistan and shared that the chairman of PARC has ensured the cultivation of soybean on 3000 acres this year.

We have both plains and mountainous areas where we can cultivate a different types of crops which can enhance our productivity and can play a pivotal role to increase our economy. We can cope with the climatic change problem if we stand together as a nation (Aik Qaum) and work as a team to increase our agricultural productivity. Make Pakistan the evergreen nation and force climate to change accordingly.
