Captain Waqas Zameer Shaheed the ideal officer embraced martyrdom on the 5th of September 2015. He was just going home from a successful operation in Swat but received an order to be in the Kanju post. He reached on the spot despite the tiredness.
I got goosebumps after reading about Captain Waqas Zameer Shaheed. I would call him an ideal human being not just a son or brother. He served in different operations in Swat Valley and performed the best in all. And that day he informed his family about his arrival and then received a call back to reach for the Kanji post. One of his junior Lt. Mohsin asked him to stay because he was tired but he refused the offer and asked him with a smile and said: “lalay Apna khayal rakhen.” His level of generosity and devotion are heart-winning.
Captain Waqas Zameer Shaheed offered prayer and recited “Surah Kausar” and motivated the soldiers before entering into the operation. The devoted person commanded and led three APC with infantry troops of 6 AK. During the operation, he was fired but went missed and he dismissed that person with his fired back. Some of the soldiers got injured and the kind Captain Waqas Zameer Shaheed managed to save the injured one with his tactics. And successfully he saved 14 of the injured. He was shot while carrying one of the injured soldiers and felled on the ground with the shout of “Allah U Akbar”. His last order was “injured soldiers should be saved” and entered into the valley of death.
Indeed he is the true example of the sacrifices and pride of his family and the whole nation. This couplet makes sense in his regard:
“Mai Chup K Barbad Ho Jaye Gulshan K Sukoon
Nadan Samjh Betha K Mujha Mai Quwat-e- Larkar Nai”
