The graceful Al-Biruni was born in 937 in a small village of Khwarizm. He was a great traveler along with being a leading figure in the field of Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Geography, and Astronomy. He wrote 14 books among which were Kitab-ul-Hind’, ‘Chronology of the Ancient Nations’, ‘Tafhim’, ‘Qanun-ul-Masudi’ (astronomy), etc. Al-Biruni was one of the companions of Mahmud Ghaznavi and with whom he stepped into South Asia. Both the legends had visited Lahore. Mahmud went back and Al-Biruni stayed back and had explored the Nandana Fort of Lahore. And today this fort is the point of tourism. He remained the first in every field and this made him prominent till this day. Many scientists followed him and had made a great mark in history and in today’s time.

He was the person who has given the idea of the two-nation theory in the 10th century which worked out in the 20th century. Al-Biruni was the first Muslim who wrote about the Hindu community. He had written a full book named ‘Kitab-ul-Hind’ in which he had mentioned that Muslims and Hindus are two different nations and they cannot stay together. Although at that time there was no such living disparity between both the communities. He believed that there was nothing common between Muslims and Hindus. He compared the concept of brotherhood in Islam which is not there in Hinduism.

He said: “In all manners and usage they differ from us to such a degree as to frighten their children with us, with our dress, and our ways and customs. They declare us to be the devil’s breed, and our doings as the very opposite of all that is good and proper.”

The prophetic Al-Biruni idea was executed in 1947 in form of the division of the sub-continent. And today most people believed that Muslims and Hindus cannot live together as one nation. So, if it is the case then why not prove ourselves as a nation (AikQaum) when we have everything of our own. Why not be grateful to Al-Biruni who is our all the time leader. Let’s tribute him for his idea from the independent land of Pakistan. Let’s revive the contributions of our heroes.
