Pioneer of Advertising in Pakistan

S.H. Hashmi was the Managing Director of Orient McCANN Erickson, one of the leading advertising agencies in Pakistan. He was a pioneer of the advertising industry in Pakistan and played a key role in its development.

Mr.Hashmi was Born in Gaya, India, in 1935, he was son of renowned scholar Allama Syed Abdul Qudoos Hashmi. He started his career in advertising in the early 1950s. He founded Orient Advertising in 1953 and quickly established it as one of the most successful advertising agencies in the country. In 1993, he partnered with McCANN Erickson, a global advertising giant, to form Orient McCANN Erickson.

Mr.Hashmi was a visionary leader who transformed the advertising industry in Pakistan. He introduced new ideas and techniques to the industry and helped to raise the standards of advertising in the country. He was also a strong advocate for ethical advertising practices.

Mr Hashmi was a prominent social figure, a recipient of a wide variety of awards, including Sitara-i-Imtiaz and President’s Pride of Performance Award, Pakistan Advertising Pioneer Excellence Award, APNS Life Time Achievement Award and APNS gold medal and gold shields.

He had been associated with the advertising industry for over 50 years and was life patron of Pakistan Advertising Association.

Mr.Hashmi passed away in 2006 at the age of 71. He is remembered as a pioneer of the advertising industry in Pakistan and a visionary leader who transformed the industry.

Nation observes 10th Anniversary of APS Peshawar tragedy

The 10th anniversary of the tragic terror incident at Army Public School Peshawar is being observed today to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Special prayers and Quran Khwani are being held for the martyred students and teachers of Army Public School.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has arranged special functions to commemorate the APS incident and martyred students.

On 16th of December 2014, six terrorists stormed the Army Public School Peshawar and martyred one hundred and forty-seven innocent students and teachers of the school.

Chomos festival continues in Kalash Valley

The historic fifteen-day Chomos festival continues in Kalash Valley, including Chitral district, on seventh consecutive day, today.

Under the guidance of Tashfeen Haider, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, tourist information centers in Chitral City and Upper Dir have been activated to assist both foreign and local visitors.

The Kalash people are observing various rituals during the Chomos festival as part of their New Year celebrations.

Traditional songs, dances, and rituals are key features of the festival, which is set to culminate on the 22nd of this month.
