ISLAMABAD, Apr 07 (APP):Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) AZMAT Wednesday visited port Bandar Abbas, Iran during overseas deployment to Persian Gulf/ Gulf of Oman. Upon arrival, Islamic Republic of Iran Navy (IRIN) extended warm welcome and PN Ship was received by senior officers of IRIN and Defence Attache of Pakistan in Iran, said a Pakistan Navy news release received here.
During the port stay, Mission Commander along with Commanding Officer of PNS AZMAT called on Governor General and Representative of Supreme Leader of Hormozgan Province and Commander 1st Naval District of IRIN.
During the interactions, Mission Commander conveyed good wishes of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi for the people of Iran in general and the IRI Navy in particular. The Mission Commander also extended gratitude for the whole-hearted support provided by Iranian authorities for PN Ship Port Call during COVID-19 scenario.
Pakistan Navy Ship AZMAT also participated in Passage Exercise with IRI Navy Ships ALBORZ, FALAKHAN AND KHADANG. The visit of PN Ship and participation in exercise with IRI Navy is a manifestation of PN resolve to work with regional navies in order to enhance peace and security in the region.
Pakistan Navy believes in promoting stability in the region and has remained committed to maritime security and order at sea. The visit of PNS AZMAT is aimed to further strengthen bilateral ties and enhance naval collaboration. It is expected that the recent visit will further contribute towards strengthening close and fraternal ties of Pakistan with Islamic Republic of Iran.
The APS (Army Public School) attack was a defining moment in Pakistan’s history. The 10th anniversary of the tragic terror incident at Army Public School Peshawar is being observed today to pay tribute to the martyrs.
Special prayers and Quran Khwani are being held for the martyred students and teachers of Army Public School.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has arranged special functions to commemorate the APS incident and martyred students.
On 16th of December 2014, six terrorists stormed the Army Public School Peshawar and martyred one hundred and forty-seven innocent students and teachers of the school.
The historic fifteen-day Chomos festival continues in Kalash Valley, including Chitral district, on seventh consecutive day, today.
Under the guidance of Tashfeen Haider, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, tourist information centers in Chitral City and Upper Dir have been activated to assist both foreign and local visitors.
The Kalash people are observing various rituals during the Chomos festival as part of their New Year celebrations.
Traditional songs, dances, and rituals are key features of the festival, which is set to culminate on the 22nd of this month.
