There is no limitation to Pakistani talent. A young talented gem Wasi Ullah designed “smart shoes” for visually impaired people that warn them with a sound or vibration about any obstacle on their path within a radius of 120 centimeters.  He is just 17 years old who is passionate about his talent of innovation. He has been repairing and fixing damaged battery-operated toys and that helps him to enter in the world of innovation.

Wasi Ullah shared his views “Visually impaired people will no longer need walking sticks or guides after smart shoes acquire popularity. The shoes are fixed with an ultrasonic sensor and Arduino board to keep blind people safe while they are walking. Such individuals can get prior notification of any looming hindrance.”

Budget hampers the ways of talent many times, especially in developing countries. But Wasi Ullah steps forth with his inventiveness. One of his teachers Farooq said that: “I still believe he has the potential to emerge as a leading scientist if he gets proper coaching and opportunity.”

Support from some high officials could bring real development in the field of science. Smart shoes are available in foreign countries but are out of the reach of our people.

Mian Sayed, a social activist from Swat has seen Wasiullah’s smart shoes and is hopeful that they could even become an export product.

Sayed added “I knew Wasiullah who is one of the brilliant students and can bring laurels for the country. The shoes invented by him can even be exported if the project is owned by the government.” Wasiullah said a pair of his smart shoes could cost about Rs4, 500 ($26), but he would not be able to finance production himself as he also needs to finance his college himself.

This project should be supported and financed to bring it out in the market and to improve the lives of impaired people.
