Our National Animal is endangered

Published

on

Chitral is used to be the homeland of our national animal Markhor. The unique and beautiful creations were free of domestication. But when humans lost the soft corner for the creatures then how can they grow and survive. In old days Markhor and like animals used to be the sources of meat for the local people of Chitral. Then later hunting was banned. Although people need education regarding such matters rather than a ban.

However, according to the new survey two-third of the Markhor population has reduced in the last three years in the Chitral Gol National Park. It is because of the ignorant nature of the concerned people.

According to a wildlife official from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department in Chitral, the population of the coveted animal reached an all-time high of 2,868 in 2019, after which the PTI government stopped paying local watchers and staffers’ salaries, resulting in a dramatic decline in the population of the coveted animal, which is most likely due to poaching with the help of Wildlife staff and local communities. Anyways, how to hunt such a beautiful animal.

This is how we are losing the worth of our country. We are senseless and ignorant to the natural and national assets.
