Story of Parkash Kumar, MDCAT Topper
Success is all yours when you are determined and hard-working. Whereas talent and being genius are blind to any sort of discrimination. No race, nor any status neither any region are to define the inside but your achievement does explain you. The very example of determination and ingenious is that of Parkash Kumar son of a poor mason but the pearl of talent who secured the first position in the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh and forth across the country.
The story of Kumar is inspiring and astonishing as well. Because most of the time good performance and talent are associated with people with strong financial backgrounds. But Kumar breaks down this concept. He was born in an undeveloped village Kharyo Ghulam Shah that is some 30 km from Islamkot city of the sand-swept Tharparkar district. Whereas his father migrated to Ghulab Laghari, a small town of Badin district along with his family some 15 years back. The hardworking father is determined to educate his children despite his limited capacity of earning.
Anyways, “Where there’s a will there’s a way” is a well-said proverb and well suited to the struggling journey of Kumar and his family. Kumar received all his primary and secondary education from Gulab Laghari and went to Government Higher Secondary School Chambar in Tando Allah Yar district. After passing intermediate he appeared in the MDCAT and stood first among 7,797 students in Sindh and fourth among the record 194,133 students. Which is indeed an accomplishment for Kumar and his family.
The young but composed boy Kumar shared the heartfelt story of his journey and his family support especially his father. His father hardly gather some 1200 rupees per day but was determined to support his children and to educate them with all his power. The optimistic champ called his success as the start of the journey and revealed his ambition to be a medical specialist.
It sounds good that Kumar’s first achievement pay him off with a gold medal and cash prize of 200,000. He received his first-ever award from the Minister of Federal Education Shafqat Mahmood. This is something positive reinforcement that can fill the ways with success and fullness.
There might be thousands of Kumar in the remote villages who need support and encouragement. It would be ideal to identify them and to support them. They are the assets and leaders of tomorrow.
