Gilgit Baltistan especially Skardu has been a tourist spot for decades and thousands of foreigners visit this place in a year. Tourism has a great impact on the economy of Gilgit Baltistan. It is the great source of their income. But it lacks proper road infrastructure which has been a barrier between nature lovers and GB. However, the most awaited Skardu airport has been upgraded for international flights. This up-gradation is expected to be operational from the 2nd of December. The announcement of this establishment has been shared by the Civil Aviation Authority through tweet.
According to the government, the airport’s initial operations will be performed solely under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). A VFR aircraft is one that is designed to fly in visual meteorological conditions (i.e., nice and clear weather). According to the ATP Flight School, clouds, heavy precipitation, low visibility, and other adverse weather conditions should be avoided when flying under VFR.
