China’s Gen Xu Qiliang meets COAS

 The vice-chairperson of China s Central Military Commission (CMC), General Xu Qiliang with a high-level delegation had visited the Pakistan Army s headquarters and held a one-on-one meeting with Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting was followed by delegation-level talks between the two sides.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, avenues to enhance bilateral defence collaboration, and particularly the situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IoJ&K) were discussed,” it had said.

COAS Gen Bajwa appreciated China s understanding and support on all important issues particularly Kashmir, the statement had added, noting that the visiting dignitary said China “greatly values its time tested relations with Pakistan and its Army and is looking forward to further solidify this relation”.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the two sides for enhancement of defence cooperation and capacity building of Pakistan Army.

On arrival at the GHQ, Gen Xu laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs  Monument) and was presented a guard of honour.

Nation observes 10th Anniversary of APS Peshawar tragedy

The 10th anniversary of the tragic terror incident at Army Public School Peshawar is being observed today to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Special prayers and Quran Khwani are being held for the martyred students and teachers of Army Public School.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has arranged special functions to commemorate the APS incident and martyred students.

On 16th of December 2014, six terrorists stormed the Army Public School Peshawar and martyred one hundred and forty-seven innocent students and teachers of the school.

Chomos festival continues in Kalash Valley

The historic fifteen-day Chomos festival continues in Kalash Valley, including Chitral district, on seventh consecutive day, today.

Under the guidance of Tashfeen Haider, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, tourist information centers in Chitral City and Upper Dir have been activated to assist both foreign and local visitors.

The Kalash people are observing various rituals during the Chomos festival as part of their New Year celebrations.

Traditional songs, dances, and rituals are key features of the festival, which is set to culminate on the 22nd of this month.
