Education system is the most powerful system to bring a change and to develop a nation. And it is the most important system which need to be reformed. In Pakistan we have a very good education system in paper but not in real. It is mentioned in our constitution that the primary education should be free of cost for all the citizens but they have not mentioned about the standard. Education does not mean to wear black/blue clothes and to go to buildings in the name of schools. Nor it is about to provide them with free of costs book and to lead them to rote memorization. Neither it is about to force the students to have one aim life and that is just to pass the exams. Most of the government primary schools have just two teachers especially in Chitral region and they have to teach all the five classes within 5-6 hours. They have to manage each and everything but they cannot do it and they would not do it because they are the part of the system which is not true in terms of monitoring. However, the question is this that how can a system monitor if it is not functional.
Whereas, Aga khan Education System has a system and that is working in Chitral and Gilgit regions and also in some areas of Karachi. It has developed a proper system and everything is observed and managed within that system. They have reached out to such areas of Chitral and Gilgit which do not have even proper routes connections. They have not just reached there but they have built a well infrastructure with all the advanced equipment from furniture to technology. They have developed a well formatted syllabus for the students and teachers. Their selection of staffs is totally on the basis of meritocracy. They train their teachers in a very educational environment and make them professionals. Their training is not just about how to teach but to deal with the students and how to find out the different talents of the students and to treat them without any discrimination. AKES is not paying much to its employees however, has positioned them to earn less but with satisfaction and hard work. Moreover, the examination system is also very different but it is limited to some of the schools. The examination board “Aga Khan University Examination Board” has a very good system to conduct exams and to evaluate the students. They never demand pages, they ask for concept and ideas. AKES is not just proficient in providing education besides, it provide different opportunities like science exhibition, drawing competition, debate competition, speech competition, essay writings and many more in which a student can analyze him/herself. These thing can attract a student to learn and can teach him/her more and more.
Chitral and Gilgit has got more than 95% of literacy rate and it is mainly because of AKES and its system. So, this model set by AKES Pakistan can be used for the reformation of general education setup of Pakistan. If we would change our education system then we can change and develop our country. We are one nation (Aik Qaum) so we need to develop together.
