KP Government to promote sports at grassroots level

Education is never limited to books and pens rather it is more about co-curricular activities. Sport is the major part of co-curricular activities and it is really important for physical and mental fitness. It should be a must part of every educational institute. Likewise, KP Sports and Tourism Department has taken the initiative to promote sports at the grassroots level. So far, it is planned that   300 different school teams, more than 4,000 players, and 585 matches will be played at 68 different venues in the province.

The ceremony of inauguration of the Inter-School Boys Cricket League was attended by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash. This ceremony took place at the historical Islamia College Cricket ground.

Some other personalities like Chief Secretary KP Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary Sports and Tourism Department Muhammad Abid Majeed, DG Sports Asfandyar Khattak, PCB CEO Cricket Association KP Babar Khan, Vice-Chancellor Islamia College University, former cricketer Wajahatullah Wasti, Arshad Khan, Director Sports Islamia College Peshawar Ali Hoti, were also part of the ceremony.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Kamran Bangash said that through the PCB Inter-School Cricket Boys new talent will emerge and after school, such League would be organized at College and University level wherein players of different ages would be part of the League.

However, this initiative should not be specified for boys because girls also reserve the right to participate in sport. They equally need physical and mental fitness. So please make sure to generalize the initiative for both boys and girls.
