National defense is the top-level priority for every state. It is a matter of high concern. National defense is the primary goal and it cost a handsome amount of human resource and economical part. National defense is mainly associated with the Armed forces and they serve the nation with all their power.
Whereas personal defense is also highly important. Every individual should be capable of his/her defense. So that individuals can act upon in alarming situations. Otherwise, it is common that people lose their consciousness in threatening situations. Therefore, self-defense training is of equal importance as that of national defense.
However, Pakistan’s National Cadet Corps (NCC) has been working in this domain since 1948. It has remained a branch of the Pakistan Army as a program run under the Pakistan National Guard. This department has been training high school and college students for self-defense. They trained them regarding the use of weapons and different defending actions. But unfortunately, that alluring opportunity has been abolished by President Musharraf back in 2002. Since that the training of NCC has not been materialized.
The passage of time has changed the concept of everything. It has hybrid the nature of threat because of the infusion of technological advancement especially that of social media. Technology has introduced the world to the fifth-generation war that is more harmful and devastating. Because it attacks the minds, ideologies, cultures, and norms, etc. There are no boundaries to this digital war. And every individual who uses digital media is prone to its negative impacts. It is more harmful and engaging than all the other warfare generations.
Therefore National Cadet Corps (NCC) need to be revived with the addition of digitally countering training as the National Digital Cadet Corps (NDCC). And this should be a must part for every citizen so that they would be able to defend themselves from both physical and mental threats to counter fifth-generation warfare.
The government needs to consider it on a serious note because it is the need of today’s world. One cannot eradicate the notion of the uprising fifth-generation or technological war but it can be dealt with with proper training and awareness. This threat is not limited to Pakistan but to the world who is unable to deal with it properly. But Pakistani youths are more vulnerable to the aspects of social media war. Therefore, the revival of NCC with NDCC can work out in this domain.
