But if you ride it for thirty minutes daily, you will lose a lot of weight. It helps lose fats in pounds, boosts your metabolism, and helps build lean muscles. Most importantly it helps in getting the fresh air out of your homes. Cycling also helps in boosting your self-esteem. Cycling is easier on your body. Many people enjoy jogging as well. It is also a form of exercise. It decreases the chances of heart disease. It is also a form of cardiovascular exercise. Cycling provides relief to knee injuries and other bone problems like arthritis. Cycling also helps relieve stress. Mental stress affects our mental well-being. According to Mayo clinic, if stress remains unchecked it can turn out to be heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. Cycling will provide serenity to the racing mind. Samar Khan is a Pakistani cyclist. Not the only cyclist, but she has also done many other great works as well. She is the first woman in the world to ride a cycle 4,500 meters. She rode cycle on Biafo glacier, in the Karakorum mountains of Gilgit Baltistan. She belongs to Khas Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She has a master’s degree in Physics. She realized she loved sports when she was in the Army school of physical training, Kakul. There she also learned paragliding.
After the achievement, she was quoted by GlacierHub as saying, “In order to change the mindsets of our people, I chose to cycle on glaciers.” “I wanted people to realize the importance of what we have, how to preserve it, and what our duties are toward these majestic landmarks.”
She reached the Pak-China border, Khunjerab from Islamabad on a cycle and rode over 4693 meters in 5 degrees C to set a national record. She has many talents. She is a certified paraglider from the Army School of Physical Training. She has a national record of riding 1000 km at the height of 4693 meters to Khunjerab. She is registered in the Pakistan book of records. She is a founder of “Pace for peace”, Two girls ride. She is a motivational speaker in TedX Islamabad. She signed up as a goodwill ambassador for (WWF) world wildlife fund in September 2019. She represented Pakistan in the US. She built an action plan called “Samar camp”. She launched bike events and training sessions nationwide. Girls doing such amazing gutsy work is remarkable. Though she faced harassment as well, even then she remained strong and fought for what she believes in. She is a living legend and heroine for the girls of Pakistan. A true inspiration that can bring about a positive change in a society that usually doesn’t want women biking. A true inspiration to look upon while deciding to go on the same journey. Doing so many things so perfectly is amazing. Girls like her are the reason people still have hope and motivation especially while deciding to do the same thing she has done.
