The great philosopher belonged to the jurist family and served as a qadi many times during his life. He had earned a name in the field of medicine as well. He had been writing on different topics and mainly his focus was religion. He was the one who integrated Islamic tradition with ancient Greek theology. He tackled with the Greek theologian through their pieces and had produced series of summaries and commentaries on most works of Aristotle. He had addressed Plato’s Republic and had integrated his thoughts and beliefs with that.
Unfortunately, many of his works are not preserved but some of his masterpieces are the basis of religious philosophy. According to him, Islam is the one that needs to be followed by all because it gives a complete code of conduct. In his book “Faṣl” he said that “philosophy is the companion and foster-sister of the Sharīʿah.” This shows his mark of belief. In another book “Tahāfut” he mentioned that “the religious laws conform to the truth and impart a knowledge of those actions by which the happiness of the whole creation is guaranteed.”
He had presented Islam with valid reason and proofed it to be the complete code of conduct. And according to him, there is no question to the sovereignty of the ultimate being. The religious philosopher and true preacher of Islam passed away in 1198.
