The name of bravery opened his eyes in the village Sanghori located in the district of Rawalpindi in 1910. He joined the military as an armed man in 1926 and was commissioned in the 2nd Punjab Regiment during 1944 where he was promoted to the rank of second lieutenant. Then he was ranked as captain in 1946. His father also belonged to the army and had served the British army as a constable during WWII. And his son has fought for his country with dedication.
He served as a commander of the company of the second battalion of the Punjab Regiment. Soon after the inception liberation movement started in Kashmir against illegal Indian occupation. Company Commander Captain Muhammad Sarwar launched an attack against a strongly fortified enemy position in the Uri Sector and secured the area. On 27 July 1948, the valiant Sarwar moved forward with six of his men to secure passage through wire obstacles without any fear of his being. And that became his last physical movement where he received a burst of fire at his chest and embraced martyrdom. And he received the first highest military gallantry award of Pakistan Nishan-e-Haider which means “Emblem of Lion”.
No doubt this land is on the map of the world just because of sacrifices laid by all the martyrs. We pay our heartiest tribute for what you have done for this country. As it has been well said that “Shaheed Ki Jo Mout Hay Wo Qaum Ki Hayat Hay”.
