FMs of Pakistan, Palestine & Turkey leave for New York to attend UNGA meeting

ANKARA, May 19 (APP): The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Palestine and Turkey left here for New York on Wednesday to participate in the urgent meeting of  the UN General Assembly to discuss the “grave deterioration” of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Turkish FM counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and Palestine’s FM Dr Riyad Al Maliki departed via the special flight of the government Turkey to jointly raise voice on the plight of Palestinians.

The UNGA session is in response to a request from the chairmen of the OIC Group at the UN and the Arab Group in a joint letter to the 193-member Assembly President Volkan Bozkir of Turkey.

The letter was signed by Niger’s Ambassador Abdou Abarry, who is chairman of the OIC Group, and Algeria’s Ambassador Sofiane Mimouni, who heads the Arab Group.

Foreign Minister Qureshi will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the General Assembly session on “The situation in the Middle East” and the “Question of Palestine”.

The foreign minister is on diplomatic mission to support Palestine, under special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Before departure, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Palestinian counterpart in a meeting expressed commitment to make strong efforts to draw the world’s attention towards the atrocities committed by the Israeli forces against innocent .

Qureshi said Pakistan would continue to stand with Palestinians in their demand for a separate homeland.

Dr Riyad Al Maliki lauded the efforts of Pakistan for highlighting the issue of Palestine at all international fora.

‘Pakistan-Malaysia engagements to yield positive results’

Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the engagements with his counterpart Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari, alongside discussions with industry representatives, resulted in productive outcomes encompassing a wide array of mutual interests.

In a post on X, he said these interactions underscored the commitment of the highest leadership to enhance relations.

Anwar Ibrahim said there will be increased cooperation in all areas including trade and agricultural technology following his visit.

He said the two countries will also expand cooperation in the skilled worker sector of artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

Pakistan slams Israel’s  growing adventurism in Middle East

ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP): Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned the growing Israeli adventurism in the Middle East and said that its unbridled attacks on civilian populations and disregard of international law have reached alarming levels.

“For the last several days, Israeli forces have engaged in unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of Lebanon, relentlessly targeting civilian population centers, and undermining its stability and security. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of Israeli aggression and the people of Lebanon,” Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press statement.

Yesterday’s reckless act of killing the Secretary General of Hezbollah in Lebanon constitutes a major escalation in an already volatile region.

“Pakistan continues to stand in solidarity with the people of Lebanon. We urge the United Nations Security Council to restrain Israel from its adventurism in the region and violations of international law; and restore peace in the Middle East,” it was further added.

Security forces, LEAs kill 21 terrorists in Balochistan: ISPR

Security forces and Law Enforcement Agencies have killed twenty-one terrorists in Balochistan.

According to ISPR, on behest of inimical and hostile forces terrorists attempted to conduct numerous heinous activities in Balochistan.

These cowardly acts of terrorism were aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment and development of Balochistan by targeting mainly the innocent civilians, especially in Musa Khel, Kalat and Lasbela Districts.

Resultantly, numerous innocent civilians embraced shahadat.

In Musa Khel District, terrorists stopped a bus in general area Rara Sham and maliciously targeted innocent citizens, working in Balochistan to earn their livelihood.

Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies immediately responded and successfully thwarted the evil design of terrorists ensuring security and protection of local populace.

However, during the conduct of operations, fourteen brave sons of soil including ten Security Forces soldiers and four personnel of law enforcement agencies, having fought gallantly, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.

Sanitization operations are being conducted and the instigators, perpetrators, facilitators and abettors of these heinous and cowardly acts, targeting innocent civilians, will be brought to justice.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
