MADRID  –  Atletico Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-0, while Norwegian underdogs Viking Stavanger held Bayern Munich to a dramatic 3-3 draw in a thrilling night of UEFA Champions League action. Barcelona recovered from a deficit to beat Galatasaray 4-1, Arsenal cruised past Lille 3-0, and Club Brugge stunned Inter Milan 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at San Siro.

Atletico made an immediate impact in Madrid, taking the lead inside the opening minute through Pablo Barrios. Despite further opportunities for both sides, the hosts had to wait until the 79th minute to secure the result, with Ademola Lookman finding the net shortly after Manchester United defender Leny Yoro was sent off.

The defeat extended United’s winless run to five matches and intensified scrutiny of manager Michael Carrick. The English club have managed just one victory in their last seven outings. Carrick acknowledged the difficulty of playing away in Europe, insisting that his side had done some things well despite the disappointing result.

In Stavanger, Viking threatened a major upset after Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen gave the Norwegian champions a commanding 2-0 half-time advantage. Bayern responded after the interval as Harry Kane converted a penalty before heading home his second goal of the match. Luis Diaz then completed the visitors’ comeback. However, Bayern’s Michael Olise was dismissed in the 74th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Viking capitalised on the numerical advantage, with Herman Haugen heading home a last-minute equaliser to earn a memorable point.

Premier League champions Arsenal delivered a convincing performance against Lille at the Emirates Stadium. Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka scored within an eight-minute second-half spell to seal a comfortable victory.

Barcelona maintained their perfect record in the competition with an impressive comeback against Galatasaray in Istanbul. Aleksei Batrakov put the Turkish side ahead, but Joao Cancelo equalised before the interval. Lamine Yamal subsequently inspired Barcelona’s second-half surge, setting up goals for Fermin Lopez and Anthony Gordon before substitute Karim Adeyemi completed the 4-1 victory. Inter endured a painful evening as Nicolo Tresoldi struck a hat-trick, including a penalty, to guide Club Brugge to a 4-3 win. Romeo Vermant also scored for the Belgian visitors, while Lautaro Martinez netted twice for Inter, who suffered their second consecutive European defeat.
