Death anniversary of Nayyara Noor observed

The second death anniversary of legendary singer Nayyara Noor, also known as ‘Bulbul-e-Pakistan’ was observed on Tuesday.

She was born in Assam, India in 1950 and migrated to Pakistan in 1957.

Nayyara Noor sang numerous filmi songs, ghazals and patriotic songs.

Her famous songs include ‘Watan Ki Mitti Gawah Rehna’, ‘Aye Jazba-e-Dil Gar Mein Chahun’,  ‘Roothay Ho Tum, Tum Ko Kaisay Manaoun Piya’, and ‘Kabhi Hum Bhi Khoobsurat Thay’.

She was awarded presidential Pride of Performance Award in 2006.

Nayyara Noor passed away in Karachi after protracted illness on this day in 2022.

Death anniversary of Ashfaq Ahmad being observed today

Twentieth death anniversary of eminent writer, playwright and broadcaster Ashfaq Ahmad is being observed today.

Ashfaq Ahmad wrote dozens of TV dramas and hosted famous programmes of Radio Pakistan “Talqeen Shah” which was broadcast by Radio Pakistan for about 35 years.

His famous PTV plays were “Munchaley ka Soda” “Aik Muhobaat Sao Afsaney” “Tota Kahani” “Hairat Kada” and “Afsaney”.

On television, Ahmad penned the script of several plays that went on to become popular with audiences including, Uchhay Burj Lahore De, Tali Thallay, and Tota Kahani. He also made a feature film called Dhop aur Saya in the 60’s.

Ahmed married Banu Qudsia, who was also a well-known author and literary personality.

He received both the Presidential Pride of Performance award and Sitar-e-Imtiaz.

Ashfaq Ahmad died on this day in 2004 in Lahore.

She began her professional career in 1970’s with drama serial “Naamdar”.

However, she got popularity from Haseena Moin’s drama serial “Bandish”.

Her famous TV serials, series and long plays include “Half-Plate”, “Ta’abeer”, “Khaleej”, “Parosi”, “Panah”, and “Dasht-e-Tanhai”.

She died of cancer on this day in 1996.
